Quick Start Guide

Get a Gantt timeline onto your Figma or FigJam canvas in a couple of minutes.

A Gantt project on the Figma canvas — Discovery and Delivery phases with task bars, dependency arrows, a Launch milestone and overdue / blocked flags at day zoom

Install from Figma Community

  1. Find the widget — open the Gantt Chart Widget on the Figma Community (opens in a new tab).
  2. Open it — click Open in.
  3. Pick a file — add it to a recent file or start a new one.

You need can edit permission on the file to add or interact with widgets.

Install from the Figma UI

  1. In Figma, open Resources in the toolbar, go to the Widgets tab, and pick “Gantt Chart” from Recents or search.
  2. Click the widget to drop it onto the canvas.

Build your first timeline

  1. Add phases — create coloured swim-lane rows for the stages of your project.
  2. Add task bars — click a phase to add a task; give it a title, assignee, note and start/end dates. Status is free: plannedin progressdone (you can reopen a finished task too).
  3. Link dependencies — draw depends-on arrows between bars. A task waiting on an unfinished predecessor is shown as blocked automatically.
  4. Drop milestones — add point-in-time diamonds with a label and colour.
  5. Set the view — from the widget property menu, switch the time scale (day / week / month / quarter / year), toggle the today marker and weekend shading, and set the week start and background colour. Pan through time with the ‹ › controls.

Free tier & upgrade

A free project is capped at 8 items, 2 phases and 1 milestone. When you outgrow that, upgrade through Figma's native checkout to unlock full-size plans.
